
Bellamy Young, born Amy Maria Young on the 19th of February 1970 ([1]) is an American actor, producer, and singer who is best well-known for her character Melody "Mellie", Grant the character in ABC's drama Scandal (2012)-2018. She was awarded the Critics' Choice Television Award for Outstanding Supporting actress in an Drama Series in 2014. She starred in the 2019 season in the role of Prodigal Son on Fox. Young began her acting career through theatre. Her Broadway debut in the year 1997, playing Mary in the original lineup. Some of her off-Broadway credits include Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Rock Along (1994) as well as Randy Newman's Faust (1995-1996). Her first appearance on television in 1995 in the role of Dr. Courtney Evans, in her role as a frequent guest in the NBC soap drama Another World. In 1997 and 1998 she was a guest on two episodes on Law & Order. Her first film appearance was in 1999 , when she appeared as an important role in the Black and White's crime drama. In the following years, she starred in other independent movies. At the start of the 2000s, she started appearing as guest-star roles on a number of TV comedies and dramas, including The Drew Carey Show, The X Files, ER, Frasier, The West Wing, NCIS, Medium, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Two and a Half Men, Supernatural, Drop Dead Diva, and Castle. Young was a part of more than thirty TV programs from 2000 and 2011.
